Abortion Mill- Wednesday, April 16th, '14

The mill was so busy today...there were cars constantly coming and going. Thankfully the sidewalks at APWHC have been well covered for the past couple of months or so, now that we have two families and two sweet young ladies named Sarah and Leah coming with us on Wednesdays. Today would have been overwhelming if they hadn't been there!

There seemed to be a lot of mocking and angry people. Several men told us to mind our own business, to shut up, leave them alone, etc. and one came charging across the parking lot at a sidewalk counselor who was trying to address him. Another group of people stood outside on the porch for most of the morning laughing, smoking and mocking while babies were being murdered inside. It is always so sad to see how casual some people are about what they're there to do, as if it were just another day.

Despite the opposition, were blessed to be able to witness two couples choose life for their babies- one was a very young couple, "S" and "H", who looked so happy and relieved when they left. Praising God for these precious lives that were spared!

Debating a Pro-Choicer, Part 1: The Humanity of the Unborn

One of the problems in the Church today is that the majority of Christians do not know how to defend what they believe; this is precisely why Theresa and I will be doing a relatively short series on pro-life apologetics. Later on we will get into the more complicated arguments for bodily autonomy, but this post, as the title states, will be about the humanity of the unborn.

The vast majority of pro-choice people you will get into a debate with are going to make arguments about rape, finances, and things like that. When they ask things such as "You really want to force a woman to bring another child into the world who she can't afford to raise and will grow up in poverty?", they are making an assumption, and this assumption is that the unborn are not human beings. They cannot prove it; they are only assuming it. The first thing you should do when these questions/statements are thrown at you is use a technique called Trod Out the Toddler. All you have to say is, "I have a two year old in front of me. His parents want the right to kill him because money is tight and they need more money to feed the five year old. Should they be allowed to do it?" If you are talking to a normal person with at least a little bit of a conscience left, their answer will be "No, you can't do that!". When you ask them why there is no moral justification for killing that toddler and they say "Because he's a human being!", your reply needs to be, "But if the unborn are human like that toddler, should we be killing them in the name of economic hardship?". The pro-choice person will most likely try to argue that the unborn aren't human and that killing a toddler is different; but IS there any difference? They have to answer the question "What is the unborn?" before they can answer the question "Can I kill the unborn?".

When a pro-choicer tries to say that the unborn are not human beings, ask them if they would like to take that up with biology.

"Although human life is a continuous process, fertilization is a critical landmark because, under ordinary circumstnances, a new, genetically distinct human organism is thereby formed." (O'Rahilly, Ronan and Muller, Fabiola. Human Embryology and Teratology, 2nd edition. New York: Wiley-Liss, 1996, pp. 8, 29).

"The zygote is human life...there is one fact that no one can deny; human beings begin at conception." -Landrum B. Shettles "Rites of Life: The Scientific Evidence for Life Before Birth" Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 1983 p 40. (Landrum B. Shettles, M.D, P.h.D. was the first scientist to succeed at in vitro fertilization)

But even if there was no proof that life begins at conception, or if no one really knew when life began, as pro-choicers like to argue; should we continue to kill the unborn without knowing for sure what they are? Scott Klusendorf uses the analogy that if you were driving home one night and saw what appeared to be an old coat in the road, you wouldn't just run it over! You would err on the side of caution and make sure that it wasn't an old man who had had a bit too much to drink and then collapsed in the street. If you were about to blow up a building to put a new one in it's place, but you weren't 100% sure that there were no living human beings inside, would you blow it up anyway? Of course not! Again, you have to answer the question "What is the unborn?" before you can answer the question "Can I kill the unborn?". Science provides massive amounts of evidence pointing to conception as the beginning of human life, and because of that we can answer the question "What is the unborn?" by saying that the unborn are distinct, living and whole human beings.

Abortion Mill- December 4th, '13

"This is my decision! You're stupid!"

That's the first thing I heard when we got to the abortion mill; a woman yelling at a sidewalk counselor. It was a lovely way to start our morning.

On most Wednesdays, you see a lot of women coming for their post-abortion check ups. Today, not so much. There were 17 cars in the parking lot after the abortionist arrived; 17 babies murdered. One girl told us, "I'm not here for an abortion, I'm getting a shot so I'll be able to have babies in the future.". I've never heard of such a thing, but regardless of whether that exists or not, that isn't what she was there for. People say things like this to us all the time, assuming that we don't know that APWHC doesn't offer anything non-abortion related. Another woman walked inside blowing us kisses...I wish I was kidding.

One baby was definitely saved today, and there are two we aren't 100% sure about, but both of these couples left waving, one smiling, and didn't come back while we were there. Praise the Lord!

Late Term Abortion

Back in May of this year, Kermit Gosnell's face and pictures of his late-term aborted victims were plastered all over social media, along with all of the details of his filthy and illegal practice. People everywhere were disgusted and outraged; good ole' Planned Parenthood even went to Twitter to voice their hypocritical and moronic opinion on the matter-

You know it's bad when Planned Parenthood says that you're appalling. I mean, come on.

Basically, it was horrific; but despite that, there are some things that need to be said. What Gosnell did was terrible, but so are the things that every other abortionist in America does every day. Those late-term babies didn't deserve to die, but neither did all of the first trimester and second trimester babies who were murdered in his clinic. Something we need to remember is this; late term abortions are no morally worse than abortions performed in the very first weeks of pregnancy. Did you get that?

Notice that I said morally worse. I'm willing to admit that seeing an aborted 35 week old baby is harder to stomach than an aborted 10-week old baby. Late term abortions are much more gruesome looking than, say, the baby pictured on the right of this image:

Maybe you feel the same way; maybe you believe that life begins at conception and that abortion is murder from that point up until a child is born. That's great. But why are we so much more repulsed by late term abortions than by first trimester abortions? Really, why? Because late term babies are bigger, older and capable of life outside the womb? Those things are true, but does that make them more human or more worthy of love than smaller, younger babies? Absolutely not. Unborn children the size of a grain of rice or even the size of your thumb are just as precious as any late term baby boy or girl. They have potential, worth, value and are loved and cherished by the Lord God. They have inalienable God given rights, and they deserve our faithful and unwavering protection!

Please know that my goal is not to minimize or depreciate the horror of late term abortion; my goal is to expose the equally inherent evil and wickedness of ALL abortion.

Excuses For Apathy- Part Two

"I have kids, and I don't want them to be exposed to the unpleasant aspects of pro-life ministry."

Part of me can understand why parents would say this. Pro-life ministry can get ugly; screaming, belligerent men and women, graphic images of aborted babies, and "deathscorts", "security" guards or demonic pro-choicers of some kind are regular occurrences at abortion mills. None of us necessarily want our children or siblings to witness these things, but it hasn't and isn't going to mentally or emotionally scar them in any way. I have 9 siblings, 8 who are younger than me, ranging from 7 months up to 13 years old. They have all been to an abortion clinic, many times in fact; they have seen their parents and big sister screamed and mocked and cussed at, they have seen graphic images depicting the violent act of abortion, and they have witnessed the immature and vile antics of pro-aborts and "security" guards. And yet, *gasp!* they have never repeated the nefarious obscenities that aborting mothers and fathers are prone to holler at our friends and family, and they don't wake screaming in the night with nightmares about aborted babies. Let me explain why.

"My children heard their first curse words, vile music, saw immodest dress, etc. at an abortion center. They had their mother and father beside them, actively engaged in ministry. Instead of being enticed by this sin, they were repulsed. Why? It has everything to do with the context or framework in which they were exposed to it. They get to see sin first hand, see lives broken and destroyed by it, listen to the stories of women and men lamenting the havoc their sin has caused, and see those who continue to harden their hearts against the Gospel. That is real life and I will not keep my children ignorant of this to their own detriment." ~ Lisa Metzger, over at A 2nd Generation of Homeschooling

Just as Lisa states above, it is all about the context of the situation. If children were to observe these things without their parents actively opposing them, that would be very different. But when they see their mother and father and other adults battling against these evil works of darkness, they clearly see them as wrong. They may hear curse words and detestable music, but they also hear the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ being proclaimed, and they see babies saved and lives changed!

I realize that that doesn't explain the whole graphic image issue, but I'm getting to that.

When we first explained to my younger siblings what abortion was, my mom started off by saying, "Some women, when they find out they're pregnant, aren't very happy about it...and they don't want their babies." That in itself was shocking and confusing to them. We have always embraced life and welcomed each new child into our home with joy and excitement, so the fact that some people weren't happy about having a baby didn't make any sense to them. My mom didn't explain every iota of each and every abortion procedure to them, because that isn't necessary, but they did look through some pro-life literature. Inside it was a small card with a graphic picture of a 10 week gestation (if I'm remembering correctly) aborted baby. They didn't go into uncontrollable fits of hysteria, and they didn't become mentally damaged. I have also never heard of that happening to any child after seeing these pictures, and I know dozens of children who are involved in this ministry with their parents. We use graphic signs every day that we are at the abortion mill, and honestly, they don't even pay attention to them. None of us like them...in fact, we hate them and can't stand to look at them, so we simply don't unless we have to. While they are unpleasant, they are just another way of exposing the unfruitful works of darkness (Ephesians 5:11), and have helped to save many babies from death!

Here is something to think about; it is not going to kill your child to take them to an abortion clinic...but your non-presence at that place of death very well may result in the killing of someone else's child.

Excuses For Apathy-Part One

"I don't have time for pro-life ministry."

Your boys play football, your daughter takes piano and dance lessons, you work full time, you're already involved in other things within your church...you are simply too busy for this time consuming ministry. Well guess what, church. Make time.

When you say that you don't have time for pro-life ministry, what you're really saying is, "I have too much going on in my life to save the lives of others. I am simply too consumed with my job and extra curricular activities to take a stand for what I believe in and to obey my God's commands to love my neighbor as myself. Rescuing helpless babies from a cruel and violent death would totally destroy my schedule, so I'll keep re-posting little pro-life graphics on Facebook and comfortably voicing my opinion within my church walls." First of all, that is not pro-life. But I won't get going on that subject because that isn't what this blog post is about and I won't be able to shut up about it. Second of all, do you realize how selfish that sounds, and is?

Your pre-born neighbors are being slaughtered by the thousands every single day, and you "don't have time". A mass murder of the most innocent of our society will take place tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day, but you "don't have time". The image of your God is being repeatedly demolished and defiled, but you "don't have time". MAKE TIME! I'm not saying that you have to give every minute of every day to this ministry. But I am saying that if you are a Christian, you need to make some time for it. You work during the week? Go to your local abortion clinic on the weekends. You have classes and responsibilities at your church? Plan around them. Whatever you have to rearrange or re-schedule, do it. This is your responsibility to unborn children as a part of the church of Jesus Christ-take care of it!

Abortion Mill- Wednesday, July 31, 2013

Abortion mill ministry was relatively uneventful today, if you can call standing outside of such an evil place for 2 1/2 hours "uneventful". The clinic that we minister at every week hires "security" guards to sit outside and watch us (because we're just SO dangerous and angry). Their job is basically to intimidate us, blast vile music from their cars to drown out the preaching, and make sure that we don't step onto their property. There was a new man there today, working by himself. Pray for him!

The parking lot was VERY full for a Wednesday. I normally count how many cars come in; it slipped my mind today, but there were many more than usual. A group of people who normally go to a different clinic to minister showed up today, which was nice, because the men in the group preached on our sound system. Normally me, my family and two other women are the only people defending these babies on Wednesdays!

We of course had the typical middle fingers, mocking laughter and angry shouting- one teenaged boy actually threatened to "come down there" and punch every one of us in the face. You kind of get used to that. But one baby was spared! We found out from another counselor that a girl changed her mind after we had gone home. She came outside, all smiles, and told him that she chose LIFE! This is what it's all about, people. Praise Jesus!!

My sweet baby brother was with us on the sidewalks this morning!

What Will You Say?

"First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me--
And there was no one left to speak for me." - Martin Niemoller, anti-Nazi theologian and Lutheran pastor

Christians will say that abortion is murder and that it is sinful, but what do the majority of us do to supposedly "fight" abortion? We might share some pro-life pictures and articles on Facebook, and if we are questioned about our opinion on abortion, we will say that we're pro-life. Those are good things, but that is not what fighting abortion looks like. Being of the opinion that abortion is wrong is not going to change the fact that babies are being murdered!

During the holocaust, there were so many Christians who knew perfectly well what was happening to the Jews, but chose to ignore it. I guarantee that there were many who, when the war was over, felt guilt over their apathy towards the Jews. What could they say they had done? Nothing, really...other than they thought what the Nazis had done was wrong. Think about how ridiculous that sounds! But you need to examine yourself, Christian. There is a holocaust ravaging this world today; what will you say when it is one day, God willing, finally over? That you knew babies were being murdered daily, just minutes from your home, but you did nothing about it? More importantly, consider what you will be able to say to God Almighty on judgement day concerning His commands to love your neighbor, and to hold back those who stumbled to the slaughter. What will you say? What reason will you give for your silence?

Do not be deceived into thinking that abortion is not our modern day holocaust; that this is somehow "not as bad" as the Jewish holocaust or that you don't need to concern yourself with it. Do not remain indifferent towards your unborn neighbors!

This.is.no.different.

We cannot be passive about this. This is murder, this is slaughter, this is wickedness...and it happens thousands of times a day in the United States alone, in cities that have hundreds of churches. Babies are dying every minute of every day at the hands of abortionists, in the shadow of our steeples, abandoned and unloved by their own parents...where is the church?!

If you are part of the church of Jesus Christ, you are not only qualified to fight this battle- you are commanded to throughout scripture.

Rescue those being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, "Behold, we did not know this," does not He who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not He who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will He not repay man according to his work? ~ Proverbs 24:11-12

Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy. ~ Proverbs 31:8-9

Repent of your disregard for the unborn, prepare yourself, and pray...pray a lot. Then GO. Go to your local abortion clinic, open your mouth, defend these babies, and share the gospel with the lost; don't continue to shy away from something that may make you or others uncomfortable. God will use you for incredible things, if you will only allow Him to!

Faith Aloud

Several days ago, my mom sent me a link to a "pro-choice" blog.  Ok, not only "pro-choice" but "christian pro-choice" blog.  As I was reading through it I was not shocked, but saddened and upset by how misguided these people were. The name of the organization is "Faith Aloud" (seems fine and good, no?) but the name of their blog is "The Moral and Ethical Voice of Reproductive Justice." Hmmm. Reproductive Justice? Sound a little fishy? Yup.

In this blog, they post about how they think abortion is ok...and not only just ok in the world's eyes, but ok in Christ's eyes!  They believe that we should lovingly accept that it's reproductive justice for a mom to brutally murder her child, for whatever reason.  That it's all about the woman's choice, because good women have abortions.  And they believe that pastors should NEVER call these women murderers, and should actually admire them for what they've done. They are quite deceived.  I'm used to seeing things like this now, but I'm pretty sure there are some of you reading this blog that are not used to it, and I just want to show you how easily deceived the world can be.

I went to their website as well as their youtube channel, and they actually make short videos that many abortion mills show to women.  Watch this one.

Does that not make you feel sick to your stomach?  Do you find yourself making a mental list of scriptures they conveniently didn't use?  In another video and on their site, they also pray to the "divine feminine presence" which I find very odd, considering they call themselves Christians.

I have to agree, they are definitely Faith Aloud, but not at all the faith you and I are.  Not the faith of the Living God.  They have made for themselves a false god-one that suits their desires.  A god that says that you can kill your kids and have no consequences-no eternal punishment.  A mushy god where everything is lovey-lovey, no pain or shame.  And it saddens me to see this happening because Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." God declared in the ten commandments "You shall have no other gods before me." We need to stop and check our hearts and make sure we are not setting up any false gods ourselves.  I don't like to see people headed down the wide road to destruction.  And I don't think you do either.  I believe it's time to stop letting wolves in sheeps' clothing get the best of the people around us.  There is only one God, and one way to heaven, and He's told us to get up and out and live the true faith aloud.  So do.

Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

Abortion Clinics: What We Do

Many people, some Christians included, think of pro-life "activists" or "protestors" as screaming, judgemental, hateful, clinic-bombing maniacs. That is a blanket statement, and I can pretty much guarantee that the vast majority of us do what we do in a loving and God-honoring manner.  We seek to do justice, love kindness, and to walk humbly with our God (Micah 6:8), to expose the unfruitful works of darkness (Ephesians 5:11), to rescue those being taken away to death, and to hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. (Proverbs 24:11) We give abortion-minded mothers and fathers the truth, and sometimes the truth HURTS. Does that mean we are hateful or condemning? Of course not! We give them the truth in love.

We use a sound system to preach the gospel and reach out to men and women, so that they can hear us even from inside the building. This way we don't have to yell to be heard. Women have come out of this clinic and told us that they were in the back, laying on the table when they decided that they couldn't go through with the murder of their child. Why? Because they could hear simple, gentle Christians pleading with them to have mercy on their precious babies!

We also hold signs, and some of them are graphic, as you can see. Most women will turn their heads, hide their faces from us, or get very angry when they see these; that is because they don't want to see what they already know deep down is the reality of their "choice". BUT, women have also told us that they chose life solely because of these pictures. It isn't that we enjoy these sanguinary images; we hate to look at them. But they are simply another way of exposing evil, and have helped save many lives!

Theresa and her sister Caroline holding the Malachi sign.

Adults and teenagers/older children attempt to stop cars. No, we don't run up to people's cars, screaming and pounding on their windows. We offer them pro-life literature and if they stop to take it, we attempt to counsel them.

And last but not least, we are a people of prayer. We spend much of our time at these places of death praying for the mothers and fathers; that their hearts would be softened towards their children and that their eyes would be opened to the truth; that they would let their children live, and flee from this wicked place!

1,721 babies have been spared from abortion here in Charlotte since October of 2008, simply because a few dozen Christians have obeyed God's command to love their neighbor! But pro-life missionaries are still desperately needed all over the country; take a leap of faith, and GO! The Lord will use you in ways and for things you never thought possible.

"An abortion clinic is not a place of protest; it is simply another mission field." - David Benham

Abortion and Ectopic Pregnancy...What do you think???

Well I've been thinking about ectopic pregnancy and abortion a lot lately.  Before we started this blog it crossed my mind briefly, but I don't really remember thinking much about it. I've now had to think about it a lot, and I want you to think about it as well.

A week or so ago I was at a conference and there was a speaker there teaching about pro-life foundations and how to have a good debate and such.  This speaker said he believed abortion was necessary, and morally acceptable if the pregnancy was ectopic.  I had jotted down some good notes on his lesson, but when I heard this I couldn't concentrate on anything else (in his session or any other).  Out of the whole conference, this was the one BIG thought I came out with. Is abortion ok if you're having an ectopic pregnancy?

For those of you who don't know what an ectopic pregnancy is, let my try and explain.  Ectopic means "out of place", so an ectopic pregnancy is when your baby is not in the womb where it should be.  Instead of settling in the uterus, it accidentally implants in the fallopian tube (path of travel to the uterus) and begins to grow and develop there.  The problem is, that because it's a tube and not an expandable uterus, the baby will grow too large for the tube and then it will rupture and the mom will bleed internally until she dies.  The baby will die also.  Not all ectopic pregnancies cause the tube to rupture though.  Studies have shown that more than 60% of ectopic pregnancies end in a natural miscarriage.  This is normal and does not harm the mother at all.

Anyways, with this being said, I had to ask myself, does scripture say it is ok to murder your child if your life is in danger?  It is still just as much human as a baby growing inside the womb, just as much human as myself.  Would it be Biblically acceptable for us to take that life and end it?  If it's wrong according to the Bible to kill an innocent human being, then it's wrong to kill an innocent human being.  And since the baby in an ectopic pregnancy is an innocent human being, wouldn't that mean it is wrong to kill him/her?

This morning I got to thinking about this topic some more, and I recalled something I had seen in the clip, 180. I remember one part when Ray gave this analogy in comparison to the value of human life and abortion.  He said, suppose you are in Germany in a Nazi camp during WW2.  There is a large pit filled with dead and dying Jews.  The officer commands you to drive a bulldozer forward and bury them alive.  If you don't, they'll kill you and do it anyway. Would you do it?  And of course my answer would be, "No!  Kill people to save my life, when they not doing anything wrong?  That would still be murder!" This is my example for ectopic pregnancy.  Would it be ok to kill the baby, that is doing nothing wrong, to save your life?  The baby is going to die anyway, right?  How can I say "no" to the first example and "yes" to the second?  But, even if I do say yes to the latter, do I have scripture to back myself up?  I cannot find a verse(s) that say that God makes exceptions for murder in certain scenarios.  I find where he states that murder is wrong, and that he will punish those who shed innocent blood, but none for it ever being ok.

Another thing I thought about was playing God. Would it be ok to take matters of life and death into my own hands and play God?  I believe God is the giver and taker of life.  I believe that if it's His will that someone die of cancer or in a car accident when they're 8-that's His will.  He gave him/her life, He can take it.  I also believe that abortion is murder.  I believe it's selfish and that it's wrong.  So then shouldn't I believe that to kill an innocent child because I don't want to die yet is wrong?  If He decides I have come to the end of my numbered days, He is in control and can take my life.  Just because I don't want to die yet, or I don't want to die a certain way should not mean I can slaughter my son or daughter to avoid it.  If I didn't believe this to be true there would be a loop hole in my stance, correct?

But, then we've got intent.  I've read many articles now on whether or not it's ok because of the intent of the procedure. That it's not the same as abortion because the intent is to save the life of the mother, not kill the baby. And that sounds nice.  But then I thought, wait a minute, what is abortion intended to do?  We can say it's intended to enable a girl to go to school, or intended to ease emotional pain of rape, or intended to save the life of the mother, but are those things the true intent of an abortion? I don't think so.  Those reasons might be a side effect. Abortion is intended for one reason.  It's intended to terminate a pregnancy.  To end the life a living human being, made in the image of God.  It's intent is not anything else.  No matter what reason I could give, I cannot deny that the intent of abortion is to kill a baby.  So, if the procedure is to "remove the pregnancy" so that the mother will "get better", and the pregnancy (a.k.a. baby) is still alive, then the intent of the procedure is to abort.  To kill the baby.

If I say that it's never ok to have an abortion, even if you'll die without one, then I'm thinking this...  people (even people I know) will say "Theresa!  You mean you'd rather have your mom die and leave little children behind? And her husband?  She would never get to see ya'll get married, or graduate, or anything! Are you saying she should sacrifice being the mother of all her other family members for this one that is going to die anyway?" And I'm thinking that it sounds really harsh, that I would be for all of those sad things.  But what is worse?  Dying and leaving your family, ministry, and life behind because God says your time is up, or killing your child so you can continue your life on earth, only to have the eternal punishment of his/her murder later?

All of this thinking brings me to my conclusion.  I've decided in my heart that abortion is murder and is never ok or excusable.  I believe that abortion in the case of ectopic pregnancy is really no different than abortion in the case of anything else.  I believe that abortion in the case of ectopic pregnancy is wrong.  What have you decided?  I challenge you to think and pray about it, and then tell us what you think by commenting on this post. (Please be polite when sharing your opinion, opposing comments will not be deleted but inappropriate comments will.)

Aaron Women's Clinic & Abortionist Douglas Karpen

The website for Aaron Women's Clinic in Houston, Texas has a slideshow of pretty pictures on it's homepage, along with white and yellow flowers and things like "It's all about you," and "Every woman deserves world class care" scrawled across the screen.

But this place is far from the pretty and peaceful all-about-helping-women environment they are trying to portray. Any supposed health facility that offers abortion -the murder of children- is a place of evil and death and darkness; but disturbing and down-right frightening details have recently emerged in regards to Aaron Women's Clinic and the illegal things that have been taking place there for years.

Aaron Women's Clinic

The abortionist that practices at this clinic is Douglas Allan Karpen. On May 13, 1988, Karpen performed an abortion on 15 year old Denise Montoya, when she was 25 1/2 weeks pregnant. Complications immediately developed after the procedure and Denise was taken to the hospital, where she eventually died of complications both directly and indirectly related to the abortion.

A medical malpractice lawsuit was filed against Douglas Karpen and Richard Cunningham, on behalf of one of their patients, Nicolette Cormier. The abortionists refused to cease the patient's third trimester abortion, even after she decided she no longer wanted to go through with it. Cormier ended up in the hospital where she delivered a premature infant weighing in at 1 lb, 13 oz. The baby later died, despite intensive medical care.

I also found a 911 transcript from 2005, describing aborted babies in a sewage spill at Karpen's clinic. Here are some specific parts of the transcript:

Caller: I have an inspector out at a medical waste scene and this is beyond our capability. He's found human body parts...

Dispatcher: O.K.

Caller: and fetuses. Can you send a police officer out here?

(.....)

Dispatcher: O.K., and what office are you with?

Caller: Health dept.

Health dept...and we can handle normal medical waste, but this is beyond us. He says he can see fetuses and fingers and everything.

-----------------------------------------------

And we haven't even gotten to the worst of it.

Three of Karpen's former employees have come forward to tell of the horrid things they witnessed and took part in during their time at Aaron Women's Clinic. One woman, Deborah Edge, worked at the clinic for roughly 15 years before leaving in March of 2011. She testified to seeing 3 or 4 babies born alive every day at Karpen's clinic, and explained in detail the different methods he used to kill those babies.

She claimed that he would sever the spinal cord of a baby born alive, or insert a surgical instrument into the soft spot of the baby's skull. Sometimes he would deliver the babies feet first, and their little toes would wiggle, until he would stab the baby with a surgical instrument. Their toes would suddenly flare out in pain, and then go limp. Other times he would twist the baby's head completely off their neck with his bare hands.

If the baby was oversize, Karpen would have to rip the baby apart piece by piece. "Sometimes he couldn't get the fetus out. He would yank pieces, piece by piece, when they were oversize. And I'm talking about the whole floor dirty. I'm talking about me drenched in blood."

Now think back to the beginning of this post. Does this sound like they care about women having "world class care"? Does this really sound like it is about women at all? Or does this sound like it's about murder, and money, and greed?

And just like with the Gosnell case, the media is silent; but even worse than that, Christians are silent! There are over 2,000 churches in Houston, and there is not a single Christian ministering at this clinic and defending those babies. Just the thought of all of those babies, late term or not, being taken there to be murdered with nobody to help them makes me sick to my stomach.

I'm sure the things described above are disturbing to you-as they should be. May your disturbance stir you to action on behalf of the unborn, and preparation for the spiritual battle that is pro-life ministry!

"Blessed be the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle-my loving kindness and my fortress, my high tower and my deliverer, my shield and the One in whom I take refuge, who subdues my people under me." ~ Psalm 144:1

The History of Abortion

The tragedy of abortion has taken place since ancient times. The first recorded evidence of induced abortion is from the Egyptian Ebers Papyrus in 1550 BCE, when many methods were non-surgical. Physical activities like weightlifting, climbing, paddling, or diving were commonly performed to bring on labor, while others included fasting and bloodletting.

The Stoics claimed that an unborn child was plant-like and did not become human until birth, therefore believing that abortion was morally acceptable...and according to Aristotle, a male embryo didn't gain a human soul until 40 days after conception, 90 if they were female. Before that, they supposedly had vegetable or animal souls. This so called "justification" for abortion that unborn children are not living human beings has been around for thousands of years.

Abortion was legal in the United States up until the point of "quickening" (when a mother could feel movement from the baby), until 1821 when New York made post-quickening abortions a felony. Eight years later, they made pre-quickening abortions a misdemeanor.

The criminalization of abortion in the US skyrocketed during the 1860's, and by 1900 it was almost entirely illegal in every state. The only situation that was considered acceptable was when the mother's life was at risk. But, in 1959 the American Law Institute proposed a model penal code for state abortion laws. The code advocates the legalization of abortion in cases of rape and incest, the physical or mental health of the mother, and fetal "deformity". A lot happened from 1959 to 1973. New York allowed abortion on demand up until the 24th week of pregnancy, and similar laws were passed in Alaska, Hawaii and Washington state. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled on it's first case involving abortion in United States v. Vuitch in 1971, and upheld a District of Columbia law that permitted abortion only to protect the mother's life or "health". But the Court makes it very clear that by "health" they mean, "physical and psychological well-being", therefore allowing abortion for virtually any reason.

By 1972, 4 states were allowing abortion on demand, 13 states had and ALI-type law, Mississippi allowed abortion in cases of rape and incest, Alabama for the mother's physical health, and 31sates still only allowed abortion to save the mother's life.

On January 22, 1973, abortion became legal through all 9 months of pregnancy in all 50 states, for any or no reason at all. Since that day 57,000,000 children have been murdered in the name of "choice". That number is unfathomable, but you can watch The Sound of Abortion to have at least a rough idea of how many unborn babies lives have been barbarically brought to a screeching halt over the past 40 years. This legalized flood of innocent blood has been allowed to go on for far too long and should have been brought to an end a long time ago.

"We are attempting to vanquish something far worse than abortion. We are at war with the worldview which makes it acceptable in the first place." - AHA

Comfortable Christianity

"In front of every abortion clinic, there needs to be a sign that reads, 'Here by permission of the church.' " -Francis Schaeffer

If you were walking down the street one day and saw a woman holding a gun to her toddler's head, what would you do? What if it was twenty of thirty women doing the same thing, about to kill their children right in front of you? Would you do anything? Of course you would! You would yell for them to stop, you would plead with them not to kill their children...you would be horror-stricken.

If you drove past an abortion clinic every day on your way to work, what would you do? Chances are you would keep driving, turning a blind eye and carrying on with your day. But why? Why are we so outraged and devastated when children are murdered in school shootings, and yet so tolerant of the fact that 3,500 unborn babies were thrown away like garbage today?

Maybe you consider yourself to be pro-life...that's great! But if you believe that abortion is murder, why does it not then disturb you the way the murder of born children does? If it did, you would probably be doing something about it. By something, I mean much more than voting pro-life or making donations to crisis pregnancy centers. I'm not saying those things are wrong, they're good too, but we could and should be doing what we as Christians are commanded to do in Proverbs 24 - "Rescue those being taken away to death;hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter."

Christians always seem to avoid talking about abortion, and if they do talk about it, they don't talk about doing something about it. Abortion is like a huge elephant in the room, not just standing there silently, but kicking and screaming and tearing people apart.  I don't understand why we continuously close our eyes and act like it's not happening, other than because we don't want to offend anyone or make anyone uncomfortable. During the holocaust in Germany, churches near the train tracks sang hymns very loudly when they knew the cargo train of wailing Jews was soon to come.  They didn't want to "offend" their church members, or have their congregation haunted by those desperate cries, so they drowned them out. And sadly, because of the fact that many women in our churches have had abortions, everyone is singing hymns at the top of their lungs so as not to see or hear about it.  We can shut our eyes and sing as loud as we want, but there will always be a rabid elephant in the middle of the room until Christians get serious about abolishing abortion and bringing the gospel to abortion clinics. Of course we have to be loving towards abortion-minded women, but most of the time they will take offense no matter how loving you are. The gospel tends to offend people more often than not.

I'm not saying it's easy to stand in front of an abortion clinic and watch parents prance inside to murder their kids. In fact, it's exhausting at times, and it's not always comfortable either. I am definitely not comfortable walking up to a stranger's car and trying to explain to them why it's wrong to give someone a few hundred dollars to rip their baby to pieces. It's not comfortable or easy when you're cussed out, mocked and flipped off. But like I've said over and over again, Christians are not called to be comfortable. Can we take a minute to think of what Jesus Himself went through for us? He was beaten, spit on, mocked and hung on a cross for sinners like you and me. It wasn't comfortable or easy for Him, but He bore it anyway because He loves us. If He loves us so much that He gave His life for us, we are more than capable of loving our unborn neighbors enough to get out of our comfort zones and protect their innocent lives.

If you have never ministered at an abortion mill, I strongly encourage you to do so. Don't want to go alone? Check out Sidewalks 4 Life to see if there are other sidewalk counselors in your area, and go! Whether you're a people person or not, a great public speaker or more on the reserved side, God will use you however He sees fit, for His glory.

 ~1 Peter 4:10-11
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
