Abortion Mill- Wednesday, April 16th, '14

The mill was so busy today...there were cars constantly coming and going. Thankfully the sidewalks at APWHC have been well covered for the past couple of months or so, now that we have two families and two sweet young ladies named Sarah and Leah coming with us on Wednesdays. Today would have been overwhelming if they hadn't been there!

There seemed to be a lot of mocking and angry people. Several men told us to mind our own business, to shut up, leave them alone, etc. and one came charging across the parking lot at a sidewalk counselor who was trying to address him. Another group of people stood outside on the porch for most of the morning laughing, smoking and mocking while babies were being murdered inside. It is always so sad to see how casual some people are about what they're there to do, as if it were just another day.

Despite the opposition, were blessed to be able to witness two couples choose life for their babies- one was a very young couple, "S" and "H", who looked so happy and relieved when they left. Praising God for these precious lives that were spared!

Late Term Abortion

Back in May of this year, Kermit Gosnell's face and pictures of his late-term aborted victims were plastered all over social media, along with all of the details of his filthy and illegal practice. People everywhere were disgusted and outraged; good ole' Planned Parenthood even went to Twitter to voice their hypocritical and moronic opinion on the matter-

You know it's bad when Planned Parenthood says that you're appalling. I mean, come on.

Basically, it was horrific; but despite that, there are some things that need to be said. What Gosnell did was terrible, but so are the things that every other abortionist in America does every day. Those late-term babies didn't deserve to die, but neither did all of the first trimester and second trimester babies who were murdered in his clinic. Something we need to remember is this; late term abortions are no morally worse than abortions performed in the very first weeks of pregnancy. Did you get that?

Notice that I said morally worse. I'm willing to admit that seeing an aborted 35 week old baby is harder to stomach than an aborted 10-week old baby. Late term abortions are much more gruesome looking than, say, the baby pictured on the right of this image:

Maybe you feel the same way; maybe you believe that life begins at conception and that abortion is murder from that point up until a child is born. That's great. But why are we so much more repulsed by late term abortions than by first trimester abortions? Really, why? Because late term babies are bigger, older and capable of life outside the womb? Those things are true, but does that make them more human or more worthy of love than smaller, younger babies? Absolutely not. Unborn children the size of a grain of rice or even the size of your thumb are just as precious as any late term baby boy or girl. They have potential, worth, value and are loved and cherished by the Lord God. They have inalienable God given rights, and they deserve our faithful and unwavering protection!

Please know that my goal is not to minimize or depreciate the horror of late term abortion; my goal is to expose the equally inherent evil and wickedness of ALL abortion.

Excuses For Apathy-Part One

"I don't have time for pro-life ministry."

Your boys play football, your daughter takes piano and dance lessons, you work full time, you're already involved in other things within your church...you are simply too busy for this time consuming ministry. Well guess what, church. Make time.

When you say that you don't have time for pro-life ministry, what you're really saying is, "I have too much going on in my life to save the lives of others. I am simply too consumed with my job and extra curricular activities to take a stand for what I believe in and to obey my God's commands to love my neighbor as myself. Rescuing helpless babies from a cruel and violent death would totally destroy my schedule, so I'll keep re-posting little pro-life graphics on Facebook and comfortably voicing my opinion within my church walls." First of all, that is not pro-life. But I won't get going on that subject because that isn't what this blog post is about and I won't be able to shut up about it. Second of all, do you realize how selfish that sounds, and is?

Your pre-born neighbors are being slaughtered by the thousands every single day, and you "don't have time". A mass murder of the most innocent of our society will take place tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day, but you "don't have time". The image of your God is being repeatedly demolished and defiled, but you "don't have time". MAKE TIME! I'm not saying that you have to give every minute of every day to this ministry. But I am saying that if you are a Christian, you need to make some time for it. You work during the week? Go to your local abortion clinic on the weekends. You have classes and responsibilities at your church? Plan around them. Whatever you have to rearrange or re-schedule, do it. This is your responsibility to unborn children as a part of the church of Jesus Christ-take care of it!

Diversity

Several weeks ago, a friend of mine made an excellent point.  Marie was visiting from Norway, and came out to minister at the abortion clinic with us while she was in America.  One morning as we were standing together on the sidewalk, she turned to me and said "You know what?  It's sad how this culture is always talking about "being diverse" and "different", but they want to abort anyone who has special needs.  Where's the diversity in that?"  Wow.  She's right.

What is diversity really about?  A white arm, a brown arm?  Flip-flops or heels?  Baptist, Lutheran, or Presbyterian?  Trucks or minivans?  In a way we're all unique.  Our shapes, sizes, thoughts, language, styles-our DNA.  We live our own lives, similar, but different.  We're all humans though, made in the image of God, by God, for God.  And yes, that does include people with mental disorders, down syndrome, missing eyes, or autism.  Right now, with all of us living on the planet, the world is diverse.  It was made that way by God.  It's good that we have variety.  But when we take control and decide who can be included and who cannot, then we spoil the diversity that God created .  Ninety percent of babies that have Down Syndrome are aborted.  I am not sure what the exact percentage is of other disabled children that are aborted, but I know that it is a lot.  Babies with special needs are targeted for abortion, big time. Because of this, we're losing a major contributing people group to our diversity.

During WWII, Hitler was not only on a mission to kill the Jews.  He wanted "perfect" people, and he did not deem the disabled to make the cut.  We are horrified to think that he starved, gassed, shot, and buried these people alive for the one reason-that they were special needs.  But when we're told that thousands of babies are starved, poisoned, crushed, vacuumed and cut apart for the same reason, or any reason, we don't have the reaction that we should.  The Nazi Holocaust may be over, but the Modern Day Holocaust of abortion is not.  What will you choose to do about it?

What Will You Say?

"First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me--
And there was no one left to speak for me." - Martin Niemoller, anti-Nazi theologian and Lutheran pastor

Christians will say that abortion is murder and that it is sinful, but what do the majority of us do to supposedly "fight" abortion? We might share some pro-life pictures and articles on Facebook, and if we are questioned about our opinion on abortion, we will say that we're pro-life. Those are good things, but that is not what fighting abortion looks like. Being of the opinion that abortion is wrong is not going to change the fact that babies are being murdered!

During the holocaust, there were so many Christians who knew perfectly well what was happening to the Jews, but chose to ignore it. I guarantee that there were many who, when the war was over, felt guilt over their apathy towards the Jews. What could they say they had done? Nothing, really...other than they thought what the Nazis had done was wrong. Think about how ridiculous that sounds! But you need to examine yourself, Christian. There is a holocaust ravaging this world today; what will you say when it is one day, God willing, finally over? That you knew babies were being murdered daily, just minutes from your home, but you did nothing about it? More importantly, consider what you will be able to say to God Almighty on judgement day concerning His commands to love your neighbor, and to hold back those who stumbled to the slaughter. What will you say? What reason will you give for your silence?

Do not be deceived into thinking that abortion is not our modern day holocaust; that this is somehow "not as bad" as the Jewish holocaust or that you don't need to concern yourself with it. Do not remain indifferent towards your unborn neighbors!

This.is.no.different.

We cannot be passive about this. This is murder, this is slaughter, this is wickedness...and it happens thousands of times a day in the United States alone, in cities that have hundreds of churches. Babies are dying every minute of every day at the hands of abortionists, in the shadow of our steeples, abandoned and unloved by their own parents...where is the church?!

If you are part of the church of Jesus Christ, you are not only qualified to fight this battle- you are commanded to throughout scripture.

Rescue those being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, "Behold, we did not know this," does not He who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not He who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will He not repay man according to his work? ~ Proverbs 24:11-12

Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy. ~ Proverbs 31:8-9

Repent of your disregard for the unborn, prepare yourself, and pray...pray a lot. Then GO. Go to your local abortion clinic, open your mouth, defend these babies, and share the gospel with the lost; don't continue to shy away from something that may make you or others uncomfortable. God will use you for incredible things, if you will only allow Him to!

Abortion Clinics: What We Do

Many people, some Christians included, think of pro-life "activists" or "protestors" as screaming, judgemental, hateful, clinic-bombing maniacs. That is a blanket statement, and I can pretty much guarantee that the vast majority of us do what we do in a loving and God-honoring manner.  We seek to do justice, love kindness, and to walk humbly with our God (Micah 6:8), to expose the unfruitful works of darkness (Ephesians 5:11), to rescue those being taken away to death, and to hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. (Proverbs 24:11) We give abortion-minded mothers and fathers the truth, and sometimes the truth HURTS. Does that mean we are hateful or condemning? Of course not! We give them the truth in love.

We use a sound system to preach the gospel and reach out to men and women, so that they can hear us even from inside the building. This way we don't have to yell to be heard. Women have come out of this clinic and told us that they were in the back, laying on the table when they decided that they couldn't go through with the murder of their child. Why? Because they could hear simple, gentle Christians pleading with them to have mercy on their precious babies!

We also hold signs, and some of them are graphic, as you can see. Most women will turn their heads, hide their faces from us, or get very angry when they see these; that is because they don't want to see what they already know deep down is the reality of their "choice". BUT, women have also told us that they chose life solely because of these pictures. It isn't that we enjoy these sanguinary images; we hate to look at them. But they are simply another way of exposing evil, and have helped save many lives!

Theresa and her sister Caroline holding the Malachi sign.

Adults and teenagers/older children attempt to stop cars. No, we don't run up to people's cars, screaming and pounding on their windows. We offer them pro-life literature and if they stop to take it, we attempt to counsel them.

And last but not least, we are a people of prayer. We spend much of our time at these places of death praying for the mothers and fathers; that their hearts would be softened towards their children and that their eyes would be opened to the truth; that they would let their children live, and flee from this wicked place!

1,721 babies have been spared from abortion here in Charlotte since October of 2008, simply because a few dozen Christians have obeyed God's command to love their neighbor! But pro-life missionaries are still desperately needed all over the country; take a leap of faith, and GO! The Lord will use you in ways and for things you never thought possible.

"An abortion clinic is not a place of protest; it is simply another mission field." - David Benham

Abortion and Ectopic Pregnancy...What do you think???

Well I've been thinking about ectopic pregnancy and abortion a lot lately.  Before we started this blog it crossed my mind briefly, but I don't really remember thinking much about it. I've now had to think about it a lot, and I want you to think about it as well.

A week or so ago I was at a conference and there was a speaker there teaching about pro-life foundations and how to have a good debate and such.  This speaker said he believed abortion was necessary, and morally acceptable if the pregnancy was ectopic.  I had jotted down some good notes on his lesson, but when I heard this I couldn't concentrate on anything else (in his session or any other).  Out of the whole conference, this was the one BIG thought I came out with. Is abortion ok if you're having an ectopic pregnancy?

For those of you who don't know what an ectopic pregnancy is, let my try and explain.  Ectopic means "out of place", so an ectopic pregnancy is when your baby is not in the womb where it should be.  Instead of settling in the uterus, it accidentally implants in the fallopian tube (path of travel to the uterus) and begins to grow and develop there.  The problem is, that because it's a tube and not an expandable uterus, the baby will grow too large for the tube and then it will rupture and the mom will bleed internally until she dies.  The baby will die also.  Not all ectopic pregnancies cause the tube to rupture though.  Studies have shown that more than 60% of ectopic pregnancies end in a natural miscarriage.  This is normal and does not harm the mother at all.

Anyways, with this being said, I had to ask myself, does scripture say it is ok to murder your child if your life is in danger?  It is still just as much human as a baby growing inside the womb, just as much human as myself.  Would it be Biblically acceptable for us to take that life and end it?  If it's wrong according to the Bible to kill an innocent human being, then it's wrong to kill an innocent human being.  And since the baby in an ectopic pregnancy is an innocent human being, wouldn't that mean it is wrong to kill him/her?

This morning I got to thinking about this topic some more, and I recalled something I had seen in the clip, 180. I remember one part when Ray gave this analogy in comparison to the value of human life and abortion.  He said, suppose you are in Germany in a Nazi camp during WW2.  There is a large pit filled with dead and dying Jews.  The officer commands you to drive a bulldozer forward and bury them alive.  If you don't, they'll kill you and do it anyway. Would you do it?  And of course my answer would be, "No!  Kill people to save my life, when they not doing anything wrong?  That would still be murder!" This is my example for ectopic pregnancy.  Would it be ok to kill the baby, that is doing nothing wrong, to save your life?  The baby is going to die anyway, right?  How can I say "no" to the first example and "yes" to the second?  But, even if I do say yes to the latter, do I have scripture to back myself up?  I cannot find a verse(s) that say that God makes exceptions for murder in certain scenarios.  I find where he states that murder is wrong, and that he will punish those who shed innocent blood, but none for it ever being ok.

Another thing I thought about was playing God. Would it be ok to take matters of life and death into my own hands and play God?  I believe God is the giver and taker of life.  I believe that if it's His will that someone die of cancer or in a car accident when they're 8-that's His will.  He gave him/her life, He can take it.  I also believe that abortion is murder.  I believe it's selfish and that it's wrong.  So then shouldn't I believe that to kill an innocent child because I don't want to die yet is wrong?  If He decides I have come to the end of my numbered days, He is in control and can take my life.  Just because I don't want to die yet, or I don't want to die a certain way should not mean I can slaughter my son or daughter to avoid it.  If I didn't believe this to be true there would be a loop hole in my stance, correct?

But, then we've got intent.  I've read many articles now on whether or not it's ok because of the intent of the procedure. That it's not the same as abortion because the intent is to save the life of the mother, not kill the baby. And that sounds nice.  But then I thought, wait a minute, what is abortion intended to do?  We can say it's intended to enable a girl to go to school, or intended to ease emotional pain of rape, or intended to save the life of the mother, but are those things the true intent of an abortion? I don't think so.  Those reasons might be a side effect. Abortion is intended for one reason.  It's intended to terminate a pregnancy.  To end the life a living human being, made in the image of God.  It's intent is not anything else.  No matter what reason I could give, I cannot deny that the intent of abortion is to kill a baby.  So, if the procedure is to "remove the pregnancy" so that the mother will "get better", and the pregnancy (a.k.a. baby) is still alive, then the intent of the procedure is to abort.  To kill the baby.

If I say that it's never ok to have an abortion, even if you'll die without one, then I'm thinking this...  people (even people I know) will say "Theresa!  You mean you'd rather have your mom die and leave little children behind? And her husband?  She would never get to see ya'll get married, or graduate, or anything! Are you saying she should sacrifice being the mother of all her other family members for this one that is going to die anyway?" And I'm thinking that it sounds really harsh, that I would be for all of those sad things.  But what is worse?  Dying and leaving your family, ministry, and life behind because God says your time is up, or killing your child so you can continue your life on earth, only to have the eternal punishment of his/her murder later?

All of this thinking brings me to my conclusion.  I've decided in my heart that abortion is murder and is never ok or excusable.  I believe that abortion in the case of ectopic pregnancy is really no different than abortion in the case of anything else.  I believe that abortion in the case of ectopic pregnancy is wrong.  What have you decided?  I challenge you to think and pray about it, and then tell us what you think by commenting on this post. Comfortable Christianity

"In front of every abortion clinic, there needs to be a sign that reads, 'Here by permission of the church.' " -Francis Schaeffer

If you were walking down the street one day and saw a woman holding a gun to her toddler's head, what would you do? What if it was twenty of thirty women doing the same thing, about to kill their children right in front of you? Would you do anything? Of course you would! You would yell for them to stop, you would plead with them not to kill their children...you would be horror-stricken.

If you drove past an abortion clinic every day on your way to work, what would you do? Chances are you would keep driving, turning a blind eye and carrying on with your day. But why? Why are we so outraged and devastated when children are murdered in school shootings, and yet so tolerant of the fact that 3,500 unborn babies were thrown away like garbage today?

Maybe you consider yourself to be pro-life...that's great! But if you believe that abortion is murder, why does it not then disturb you the way the murder of born children does? If it did, you would probably be doing something about it. By something, I mean much more than voting pro-life or making donations to crisis pregnancy centers. I'm not saying those things are wrong, they're good too, but we could and should be doing what we as Christians are commanded to do in Proverbs 24 - "Rescue those being taken away to death;hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter."

Christians always seem to avoid talking about abortion, and if they do talk about it, they don't talk about doing something about it. Abortion is like a huge elephant in the room, not just standing there silently, but kicking and screaming and tearing people apart.  I don't understand why we continuously close our eyes and act like it's not happening, other than because we don't want to offend anyone or make anyone uncomfortable. During the holocaust in Germany, churches near the train tracks sang hymns very loudly when they knew the cargo train of wailing Jews was soon to come.  They didn't want to "offend" their church members, or have their congregation haunted by those desperate cries, so they drowned them out. And sadly, because of the fact that many women in our churches have had abortions, everyone is singing hymns at the top of their lungs so as not to see or hear about it.  We can shut our eyes and sing as loud as we want, but there will always be a rabid elephant in the middle of the room until Christians get serious about abolishing abortion and bringing the gospel to abortion clinics. Of course we have to be loving towards abortion-minded women, but most of the time they will take offense no matter how loving you are. The gospel tends to offend people more often than not.

I'm not saying it's easy to stand in front of an abortion clinic and watch parents prance inside to murder their kids. In fact, it's exhausting at times, and it's not always comfortable either. I am definitely not comfortable walking up to a stranger's car and trying to explain to them why it's wrong to give someone a few hundred dollars to rip their baby to pieces. It's not comfortable or easy when you're cussed out, mocked and flipped off. But like I've said over and over again, Christians are not called to be comfortable. Can we take a minute to think of what Jesus Himself went through for us? He was beaten, spit on, mocked and hung on a cross for sinners like you and me. It wasn't comfortable or easy for Him, but He bore it anyway because He loves us. If He loves us so much that He gave His life for us, we are more than capable of loving our unborn neighbors enough to get out of our comfort zones and protect their innocent lives.

If you have never ministered at an abortion mill, I strongly encourage you to do so. Don't want to go alone? Check out Sidewalks 4 Life to see if there are other sidewalk counselors in your area, and go! Whether you're a people person or not, a great public speaker or more on the reserved side, God will use you however He sees fit, for His glory.

 ~1 Peter 4:10-11
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

The Abortion Holocaust

When you hear the word "Holocaust", abortion is more than likely not what surfaces in your mind. You probably think of the mass murder of millions of Jews, concentration camps, and what have you.

The Holocaust was a terrible, wicked thing, and we are not aiming to somehow minimize the horror of what took place during that time. But we are aiming to bring to light the fact that there is another Holocaust taking place today-the Abortion Holocaust.

I'm sure there are some of you that would say abortion can't be compared to the Holocaust, so here are a few things to consider-

6,000,000 Jews were murdered from 1941-1945. 57,000,000 unborn children have been murdered since abortion became legal in 1973.

The Jews were deemed "inferior" and "sub-human". Many pro-choice people today claim that the unborn child is not a human being, but a "clump of cells", or a "piece of flesh". Some will even admit that it is a child in the womb, but still support, glorify and celebrate abortion. They call it a woman's right or a woman's choice, placing the value of the mother's life over that of her baby's-therefore believing that an unborn human being is "inferior" to their mother.

The majority of Christians remained silent, stood by, and did nothing to bring an end to the Holocaust. And today, the majority of Christians remain silent, stand by, and do nothing to stop the murder of the unborn.

God's heart was grieved over the murder of the Jews. But God's heart is also grieved today over the slaughter of every unborn child made in His image.

Millions murdered, millions dehumanized, and millions ignored by the church. God was not pleased then, and he is most certainly not pleased now. Do you not think that the murder of His children-the children that He created, that He knew He would create before time existed, that He loves-grieves Him?  Do you not think that this constant murdering, this slaughter, stirs up His wrath?

If not, think again.

There is a good chance that you are offended by the gory picture above...so here's another comparison. The American liberators made sure that German civilians were forced to confront the horrors of the concentration camps. They were made to look at the piles of emaciated bodies...American soldiers even made some dig up the bodies of 800 Jews, and then bury them in individual graves. The terrible things that went on in these camps were exposed, and the German civilians were confronted with the reality of what they had allowed to take place. Abortion needs to be exposed, and people need to be confronted with this reality as well. The fact that this picture offends you should speak volumes.

Oh,and let's not forget...everything Hitler did in Germany was legal.
