"And Such Were Some of You..."

Kermit Gosnell is a 72 year old abortionist who ran the "Women's Medical Society" in West Philadelphia from 1972-2011. He performed illegal late term abortions in his clinic, (abortion is legal at any point in a woman's pregnancy, but past 20-24 weeks depending on the specific clinic, I believe it has to be done in a hospital; not a free-standing clinic,) and killed these babies using a method he referred to as "snipping". He would give the mother specific medicines to induce labor, the baby would be born alive, and he would insert scissors into the back of the baby's neck, then proceed to "snip" the spinal cord. His clinic was highly unsanitary, with blood stained furniture and equipment- like something out of a horror movie. You can see the whole story here.(Warning: graphic images)

 Theresa and I, along with our families and other Christians, minister at A Preferred Women's Health Center here in NC. The two abortionists that practice at this "health center" are Jimmy Issac Newton and Ron Virmani. Newton has been known to touch women inappropriately during exams and has called and harassed them at their homes. When Christians confronted Virmani at his house last July, his response (watch here) was quite interesting and made local news. Years ago, he was banned from practicing medicine at any of the Presbyterian hospitals in Charlotte because he botched so many ob/gyn surgeries, so he decided to kill babies for a living. Ambulances have shown up at this clinic numerous times, and one woman, that I know of, went home after her abortion and bled to death due to Virmani's incompetence.

All three of these men are wickedly evil. But they are no more wicked than the abortionist that murders babies in your city; the things that happen in their clinics are no more horrendous than the things that happen in your local abortion clinic; and abortion is not evil because an abortionist occasionally and accidentally takes the mother's life along with her baby's. Yes, the woman's death is tragic; but that is not what makes abortion wrong. Abortion is wrong because it is the intentional slaughter of unborn children.

BUT! Even though these men are murderers lost in their sin, God. Still. Loves them. He loves them with an indescribable, unconditional and unsurpassable kind of love, the same way he loves you and me. If the Creator of the entire universe loves them in such an incredible way as this, we as fallen human beings are more than capable of loving them as well. We should be praying for these men and women, that they would turn from their wicked ways and run to Jesus for forgiveness.
